Just around the corner from Schmidt’s last place of work in the DIE ZEIT building are the headquarters of the Foundation that the German Bundestag established with effect from 1 January 2017. As a think tank, the Foundation considers questions that also motivated Schmidt himself: democracy and society; Europe and international politics; global markets and social justice. The exhibition »Schmidt! Living democracy« is a place for active learning and provides insights into a century of German and international history, with a focus on the period in which Schmidt served as Chancellor from 1974 to 1982.
